Kazakhstan intends to increase the volume of oil supplies along the Trans-Caspian route to 3 million tons within two years, the press service of the Kazakh government reported. It is reported that 1.4 million tons of oil were transported along this route in 2023.
The plan for 2024 is up to 1.5 million tons of oil.
In 2022, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to increase the volume of oil transportation along the Trans-Caspian corridor. In accordance with this instruction, “KazMunayGas” and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have concluded an agreement providing for the shipment of 1.5 million tons of raw materials per year from the “Tengiz” field to Baku for further pumping through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.
