“Gazprom” supplied about 19 bcm to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in 10 months of 2023 and by the end of the year it will exceed the planned volume determined by the contract of 22 bcm of gas, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Sunday.
“We condemned the issue of supplies. This year’s deliveries are already more than planned. According to the plan, there were 22 bcm, but in 10 months they reached almost 19 bcm, in general, the year will be higher than 22 bcm,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, who held a meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on energy the day before.
“Gazprom” and CNPC have a 30-year gas purchase and sale agreement on the Eastern route (via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline) in the amount of 38 bcm of gas per year.
The first five years are devoted to increasing the volume of supplies. Deliveries started in December 2019. In 2021, “Gazprom” sent 10.39 bcm to China via this highway, and in 2022 – 15.4 bcm.
