China increased oil and natural gas imports by 0.7% and 22.8% respectively in January-March 2024, the data released on April 12 by the General Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
During the reporting period, China imported 137.3 million tons of oil, in price terms, the purchase of crude oil abroad cost 80.8 billion dollars, by 0.6% more than in the same period of 2023.
The volume of natural gas imports in the first three months of 2024 amounted to 32.7 million tons (an increase of 22.8%) in the amount of $ 16.5 billion (in price terms, there was a decrease of 1.9%).
Coal imports in January-March amounted to 115.89 million tons (an increase of 13.9%) and cost China $ 12.03 billion (in price terms, a decrease of 11.8%). By the end of 2023, China increased oil imports by 11% to 564 million tons, natural gas imports increased by 9.9% to 119.97 million tons, coal imports amounted to 474.41 million tons (an increase of 61.8%).
