Kazakhstan plans to restore two inactive berths in the Aktau seaport within three years.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a roadmap for the development of oil transportation routes for export was developed and approved earlier as part of the execution of the President’s instructions on the diversification of export directions of Kazakh oil transportation.
“Within the framework of this roadmap, it is planned to take measures for the reconstruction of oil berths N9 and N10 of Aktau Commercial Sea Port JSC. The implementation period is 2023-2025,” the Ministry said in a statement. The current capacity of the Aktau port (berths N4, 5 and 8) makes it possible to ship about 7.5 million tons of oil per year. If berths N9 and N10 are restored, the port’s capacity will be 12.5 million tons of oil per year.
