In January-June of this year, 57.4 million tons of coal were mined in the country, including lignite (lignite) and coal concentrate – 5.9% more than a year earlier. In monetary terms, production amounted to 271 billion tenge, according to energyprom.kz.
53 million tons of hard coal, 2.3 million tons of lignite, and 2 million tons of coal concentrate were mined directly.
In the regional context, the largest volume of production fell on the Pavlodar region: 33.9 million tons, plus 4.9% per year. The second place in terms of production was traditionally taken by the Karaganda region: 18.4 million tons, plus 2.3%.
In general, for 2021, coal production was 116.2 million tons, plus 2.5%.
According to the results of January-May, Kazakhstan exported 13.7 million tons of coal worth $344.2 million. Growth in physical terms amounted to 21.1%, in monetary terms – immediately 91.5% over the year.
Most of it was sent to the CIS countries: 9.1 million tons – 0.7% more than a year earlier. The key importer of Kazakhstani products in the sector is Russia: 8.4 million tons, plus 15.3% for the year. The top three also included Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.
