Oil production in Kazakhstan decreased from 90 million to 85.7 million tons in 2020. This was announced by the Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev
According to the minister, in 2020 the government introduced restrictive measures on oil production as part of the OPEC+ obligations.
Last year, Tengizchevroil produced 26.4 million tons of oil, which is 100% in line with the reporting year’s plan.
Oil production from the Caspian field Kashagan amounted to 15.1 million tons, and the plan for 2020 was 100% fulfilled.
12 million tons of raw materials were produced from the Karachaganak gas condensate field, which was 103% of the plan.
The minister also said that 68.5 million tons of oil was exported in 2020, which amounted to 101.8% of the plan.
By the end of 2020, 55.2 bcm of gas was produced in Kazakhstan. Domestic gas consumption amounted to 17.2 bcm. The volume of exported gas amounted to 10.7 bcm.
At the end of 2020, the volume of electricity generated by renewable energy facilities amounted to 3.15 billion kWh.
In 2020, 25 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 583 MW were implemented. Among them were 10 projects with wind energy, 12 – solar energy, 1 – water energy and 2 – biomass energy. As a result, the sector received income of $ 1.5 billion. About 3,000 temporary jobs and about 1,310 permanent jobs were created. In 2021, it is planned to implement 23 facilities with a capacity of 391 MW. The total investment will amount to $ 370 million.
