“Gazprom” purchased about 5 bcm of natural gas from Turkmenistan in 2022 according to the agreement concluded by the parties, the Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat A. Blokhin said in an interview with TASS.
According to the Russian side, in 2021, “Gazprom” purchased about 10 bcm of gas from Turkmenistan. Blokhin said that “Gazprom” has an agreement with Turkmenistan until 2024, it was extended last year.
The Ambassador also added that the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan still have a mutual interest in cooperation on the creation of underground gas storage facilities and negotiations are continuing on this issue. Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China, supplies to Russia, and also sells small volumes of swap with Azerbaijan through Iran.
