Azerbaijan’s share in gas supplies to the EU in 2022 increased to 3.4%

European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson reported an increase in 2022 by 1 percentage point – up to 3.4% – of Azerbaijan’s share in gas supplies to the European Union (EU).

“The share of supplies from Azerbaijan in total gas imports to the EU amounted to 2.4% in 2021 and 3.4% in In 2022,” Simson said on Friday, joining the parliamentarians of Europe.

She also noted that the European Commission is awaiting the results of the preparation of a feasibility study (feasibility study) of an electric cable laying project on the bottom of the Black Sea and added that the EC is ready to support it.

As previously reported, in 2022, Azerbaijan increased gas exports by 18% to 22.3 bcm, supplies to Europe amounted to 11.4 bcm (+39%).

In 2023, gas exports from Azerbaijan are planned to exceed 24 billion cubic meters, of which at least 12 bcm are to Europe. Currently, the buyers of Azerbaijani gas in Europe are Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania.
