Azerbaijan plans to export about 10 bcm of gas to Italy in 2022, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
“This year we plan to increase the volume of gas and export about 10 billion cubic meters of gas to the Italian market,” the president said at the 48th Cernobbio International Forum in Italy held on Friday.
Gas supplies to Italy from Azerbaijan in 2021 amounted to 6.8 bcm. Aliyev, whose words are quoted on the website of the head of state, noted that since the launch of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) – December 31, 2020 – 13.5 bcm of gas have been exported to Europe from Azerbaijan, of which 11.7 bcm have been delivered to Italy .
In 2021, Azerbaijan exported 8.2 bcm of gas to Europe, in 2022 the volume of supplies will be more than 12 bcm. According to the commercial long-term contract (the contract expires on December 31, 2045) dated September 19, 2013, signed between the “Shah Deniz: consortium and European importers, Azerbaijan supplies gas to Italy, Greece and Bulgaria.
