Azerbaijani gas supplies to Italy in 2022 under long-term and spot contracts will amount to 9.5 bcm, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said.
In 2021, the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Italy amounted to about 7 bcm.
“If the current pace is maintained, this year the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Italy under long-term and spot contracts will reach 9.5 billion cubic meters,” Shahbazov said on Saturday in Baku at the conference “Azerbaijan-Italy: The road leading to the strengthening of multilateral strategic partnership”.
According to him, the expansion of the TAP gas pipeline (which supplies Azerbaijani gas to Europe) will increase gas supplies not only to Italy, but also to other European countries. “Therefore, we invite all interested parties to take part in the expansion of the gas pipeline,” he stressed.
Shahbazov added that since December 31, 2020, over 10 bcm of Azerbaijani gas have been supplied to Europe via TAP.
