The main task of the European energy policy is security, competitiveness and sustainable development. This statement was made by the Vice-President of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova in Baku.
According to her, Azerbaijan is the main partner of the EU countries in ensuring energy independence and security of gas supplies, in containing negative climate change, in promoting economic development and employment. Thus, one of the most important tasks was solved: providing safe and affordable energy for consumers.
“The implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor is one of the most ambitious projects. Bulgaria once again expresses its firm support for the development of the project and the important role of your country in its implementation. Our country is part of the development of the Southern Gas Corridor through the Greece-Bulgaria and Turkey-Bulgaria interconnect project. The project with Greece will allow starting deliveries of the previously agreed 1 bcm of Azerbaijani gas per year to Bulgaria from the Shahdeniz-2 field before 2020. This project is very important for diversifying resources and ways to deliver natural gas to Bulgaria,” said Bulgaria’s Vice-President.
