Azerbaijan does not intend to compete with Russia in the European gas market, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
“We never even thought of competing with Russia on the European gas market, since the volumes of supplies are incomparable,” Aliyev said on April 29 at a meeting with participants in the international conference “South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation.”
According to him, “we just wanted to gain access to a stably regulated market in Europe.” “We sell gas to various consumers, but it is Europe that pays the best price,” he said.
Aliyev added that Azerbaijan’s energy policy has never raised questions from Russia. I am sure that the issue of exporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe will never have a negative impact on our relations with Russia,” the President stressed.
