The Ministry of Energy of Belarus hopes to sign a document with Russia on the price of gas by July 1. The Ministry hopes for agreement on the price of Russian gas from 2020, its head Viktor Karankevich told reporters.
“Negotiations are conducted at the level of relevant ministries and vice-premiers. In accordance with the signed agreements, the deadline is defined: such a document (on the price of gas for Belarus from 2020) must be developed and signed before July 1, 2019. The deadlines are determined, and we must take exhaustive measures to implement this work within the prescribed time,” said the minister, quoted by the state agency BelTA on Friday.
According to the Energy Minister, the date of the next meeting on the gas issue has not been determined. “I can’t yet orient by date, but this work will be activated from March,” the minister said. According to earlier agreements, the parties must agree on the price of Russian gas for Belarus in 2020-2024 until July 1, 2019. In discussing this issue, the Belarusian side is in favor of creating equal conditions for economic entities of the two countries.
