According to the international rating of Global Petroleum Prices on February 19, 2018, Kazakhstan ranks 15th among the countries of the world with the cheapest gasoline.
This was announced by the Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev at an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Energy. The Minister noted that the analysis used prices for high-octane gasoline and diesel fuel in 167 countries around the world.
“In the ranking of the countries with the cheapest gasoline, Kazakhstan ranks 15th with the price of $ 0.56 per liter, while the average world price for 1 liter is $ 1.15 cents.” The country with the lowest price for motor gasoline today is Venezuela – $ 0.1 per liter. The country with the most expensive motor gasoline is Iceland – $ 2.1 per liter,” he said.
Bozumbayev added that if to compare the prices in the CIS, then the cheapest gasoline is in Turkmenistan. Kazakhstan is on the second place in this list.
“Cheaper than ours, gasoline is only in Turkmenistan – $ 0.43, and diesel fuel is cheaper in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, while Kazakhstan takes the 14th place with $ 0.5 for diesel fuel.” The average price of diesel fuel in the world is $ 1.04,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Energy Minister added that after putting into operation and reaching the designed capacity of the modernized refineries in the second half of 2018, the country’s market is expected to be provided with domestic petroleum products: up to 90% in gasoline, 90% in diesel fuel, 70% in jet fuel and traditionally 100% in fuel oil.
The construction of the fourth oil refinery is necessary because of a possible shortage of gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation kerosene after 2021, he said.
