The supply of Turkmen gas through Türkiye will contribute to the energy security of Europe, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz believes. He noted the successful implementation of large-scale energy and transport infrastructure projects linking East and West. Yilmaz stressed that the projects implemented with Azerbaijan in this area are exemplary.
“The transportation of trans-Caspian resources, especially Turkmen natural gas, to Türkiye and Europe will contribute both to our national well-being and to the energy security of Europe. We are pleased with the creation of an energy mechanism within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and support the development of joint projects,” the Turkish state agency Anadolu quoted him as saying.
Yilmaz stated that Türkiye is ready to share its experience with member countries on issues such as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and market regulation.
Ashgabat does not remove from the agenda the project of supplying Turkmen natural gas to Europe through the Caspian Sea. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, speaking at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states in Moscow last December, noted that “the construction of energy infrastructure running along the bottom of the Caspian meets the economic needs of coastal states and can contribute to the energy security of the region.”
