In January 2023, electricity production in Azerbaijan increased by 7.7% compared to January 2022 to 2 billion 755.9 thousand kW/h, the country’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said.
“In January 2023, according to operational data, electricity production in Azerbaijan increased by 7.7%, to 2 billion 755.9 million kWh. At the same time, the export of electricity from Azerbaijan amounted to 512.6 million kWh, import – 10.8 million kWh,” Shahbazov wrote on Twitter.
It should be noted that in January 2022, the export of electricity from Azerbaijan amounted to 247.2 million kWh, import – 10.7 million kWh. Thus, in January 2022, exports increased by 2.1 times, imports increased by 0.9%. In 2022, electricity generation in Azerbaijan amounted to 28 billion 988.5 thousand kWh (an increase of 4%). At the same time, the export of electricity from Azerbaijan amounted to 3 billion 3.8 million kWh (an increase of 79.5%), import – 137.1 million kWh (a decrease of 9.6%).
