In January-May 2022, Azerbaijan exported 9.4 bcm of gas, which is 27% higher than the same period last year, Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov said.
“In January-May 2022, Azerbaijani gas exports amounted to 9.4 bcm, of which 48% or 4.5 bcm of gas were sent to Europe,” the minister wrote on his Twitter account.
Shahbazov noted that in the structure of export supplies in the reporting period, Turkey accounted for 38% or 3.6 bcm, Georgia – 14% or 1.3 bcm.

At the same time, 2.4 bcm of gas was supplied to Turkey through the TANAP gas pipeline in January-May 2022. Another 45 mcm of gas was supplied during this period for the needs of pumping stations of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
Azerbaijan has been a gas exporter since 2007, starting deliveries to Georgia and Turkey. Since December 31, 2020, Azerbaijan has also been exporting gas to Europe. According to the Energy Ministry, more than 116 bcm of gas have been exported from the Shah Deniz field since 2007.
