In the first quarter of 2022, 30 million tons of coal were mined in Kazakhstan, which is 7.7% more than in the same period in 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
According to the results of the quarter, 78% of the coal consumed in the domestic market of Kazakhstan was supplied to the needs of the power industry.
16.7 million tons were sent to energy companies, 2.2 million tons to industrial enterprises; 2.4 million tons of coal were shipped for domestic needs and the population. Export of coal amounted to 8.6 million tons.
