The Southern Gas Corridor is a successful project to provide consumers with uninterrupted and affordable gas. This statement was made by the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov, speaking at the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya.
According to the minister, the interest of various countries in Azerbaijani gas necessitated the expansion of the corridor. “It’s time to start working in this direction,” Shahbazov stressed.
The Minister of Energy shared his views on the current situation in the energy markets, the growing role of natural gas in a sustainable energy supply and Azerbaijan’s energy policy based on the diversification of energy resources.
“On the one hand, the energy crisis caused by the energy transition, on the other hand, the ongoing political tensions have made energy markets unstable and volatile,” he said. The Minister noted that sustainable energy solutions will be one of the main challenges of the future, and in this regard, natural gas will play an important role in the energy transition process. He said that a balance between energy security and environmental security is a more rational approach, and that dependence on one energy source leads to instability in energy markets.
