In 2021, a solid waste incineration plant located in the Balakhani village of the Sabunchi district of Baku, owned by Clean City OJSC (on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan), generated 193.2 kW/h of electricity.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, the energy produced from household waste accounted for 0.7% of electricity production in the country. It should be noted that according to the results of 2020, according to the Ministry of Energy, the solid waste incineration plant produced 200.6 million kWh of electricity.
