On August 21, 2020, the Turkish president announced the discovery of a large natural gas field in the Black Sea. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country expects to obtain gas from the Black Sea by 2023.
The president recalled that the volume of proven gas reserves in the Danube-1 section of the Sakarya field amounted to 405 billion cubic meters.
