The British Company BP is completing preparations for drilling the first of three exploration wells in the shallow waters of Absheron under the SWAP project, BP Azerbaijan reported.
According to the company, in August 2020, a document was published on the assessment of the environmental and socio-economic impact on the drilling of the first well under the SWAP project.
After public comment, the project was approved by the government in January 2021. It was decided to start drilling this year, the company said.
In December 2014, SOCAR and BP signed an agreement on the distribution of shares in the exploration and development of potential deposits in the shallow waters of the Absheron Peninsula.
