Iran fully launched the sixth gas trunkline (IGAT-6) which will play a key role in the countrys gas exports to Iraq, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said.
Hamidreza Araqi added a major section of the project was completed last calendar year (ended on March 20) and the final 100-kilometer section of the project is now fully constructed, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.
The pipeline will play a key role in the country’s gas export to neighboring Iraq as well as sustainable gas supply in the west of the country, the official said.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to officially inaugurate the project, Araqi said.
