Launching of a new product – bios-oriented polypropylene film (BOPP) – is prepared at the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.
According to the electronic newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden age”, the contract for the construction of a plant for the production of packaging film of two types – transparent single-layer and co-extrusion film was concluded with the company “P.T.Istana karang Laut” (Indonesia). Now there commissioning works are conducted, and production is planned to begin at the end of June of this year.
The new equipment will allow to expand the range of products made of polypropylene produced at the Turkmenbashi oil refinery. More than 20 thousand tons of films of various types and purposes, including those intended for packing of foodstuff and industrial goods will be made of local raw materials a year.
This film has high strength and low density in comparison with polymer analogues. This gives the advantage of BOPP – at the same thickness it weighs less, which makes its use advantageous.
In addition to packaging food products, propylene films are used in the textile industry and for packaging disposable medical materials.
