In 2017, the consumption of natural gas in Ukraine in comparison with 2016 decreased by 4% or 1.3 bcm, amounting to 31.9 bcm. This is stated in the message of the press service of the company Naftogaz.
In 2013, Ukraine consumed 50,357.6 mcm of gas. The decrease in gas consumption in the country occurred in 2014, when a political crisis began between Ukraine and Russia. In 2014, the gas consumption fell to 42.6 bcm, and in 2015 – to 33.7 bcm. In 2016, the consumption was 33.2 bcm.
In 2017, Ukraine produced 20.5 bcm of gas. The increase in gas production compared to 2016 was 0.45 bcm or 2%.
Ukraine stopped buying gas from Russia in November 2015 and in 2016-2017 did not use Russian gas in preparation for the heating season, pumping gas bought on the reverse in Europe into the storages. Over the past year, Ukraine imported 14.1 bcm of gas from Europe.
