Gazprom plans to buy about 15 bcm of gas from Central Asia in 2016, the Director of the Gazprom Export Department Mikhail Malghin stated during a teleconference. ‘We have to buy about 15 bcm,’ he said.
Earlier, a source in the gas holding told TASS that Gazprom Export notified Turkmengaz about the termination of the purchases of Turkmen natural gas from January 1, 2016. Simultaneously, i.e. from January 1, Gazprom increased the purchases of natural gas from Uzbekistan. The agreement to increase the purchases of Uzbek gas was reached in late December 2015. According to the agency’s sources, the purchases of Uzbek gas in 2016 could exceed 3.1 bcm, which was purchased from Turkmenistan in 2015.
