New gas reserves found in Turkmenistan

The studies carried out by the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation made it possible to extend the gas-bearing part of Turkmenistan’s largest Galkynysh field, the country’s ministry of oil and gas said June 21.

In addition, the commercial gas inflows were obtained by 3D seismic survey from the wells also located in the area of the Galkynysh field.

According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates (UK), which audits at the Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total resource reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas, while taking into account the newly discovered Garakel field, the block’s reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
