Upgrade of three biggest oil refineries in Kazakhstan will allow the country stopping import of quality fuel by commencing production of Euro-4 and Euro-5 oil products, said Akmaral Kalmuratova, Director of the Independent Centre of Oi Products Expertize Organic, which specializes in certification of Kazakhstan’s oil refineries.
“Good cars running on Euro-4 and Euro-5 fuel are very popular in Kazakhstan. Right now we have to import this type of fuel from Russia and China, because Kazakhstan’s oil refineries produce only Euro-2 fuel,” Kalmuratova said at the conference “Week of Oil Refining and Petrochemistry CIS” in Baku.
It is planned to complete upgrade of three big oil refineries in Kazakhstan by 2017 and after that the country could consider construction of the fourth big oil refinery.
In 2014 Kazakhstan’s oil refineries produced 3 million tons of motor fuel (petrol, including aviation fuel), up 10% against 2013.
