In the near future Turkmenistan is going to begin the third stage of development of Galkynysh gas field and increase production up to 95 billion cub.m. of gas, said Ashirgulu Begliyev, chairman of state-run concern Turkmengas.
He said that by present the production facilities with the capacity of 30 billion tank gas a year were put into operation, the second stage with the similar capacity was launched in 2014 and the third stage of development of Galkynysh gas field with the capacity of 35 billion cub.m. of tank gas a year is expected to begin at the end of this year.
“As a result extraction on this only field will total 95 billion cub.m. of tank gas a year,” he added.
In 2013 Turkmengas state concern implemented one of the biggest projects in modern Turkmenistan – the first stage of development of Galkynysh field with the capacity of 30 billion cub.m. of tank gas a year. Investments into this project totaled $9.7 billion. According to the service contracts signed in 2009, Turkmengas acted as a general contractor and such companies as CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited (China), LG International Corp and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd (South Korea), Petrofac International LLC. and Gulf Oil & Gas FZE (UAE) acted as sub-contractors.
In 2014 natural gas extraction in Turkmenistan totaled over 76 billion cub.m., while its export – over 45 billion cub.m.
