Today Azerbaijan is known in the world as a liable partner in the oil and gas industry and plays a decisive role in safeguarding energy safety of some countries. State-run AzerTag news agency reported that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that at the session devoted to the 70th jubilee of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
“In several years number of our partners will grow even higher. After implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor about ten countries and in the future even more countries will get a chance to buy Azerbaijani gas, because Azerbaijan has assumed upon itself leadership in this field. Azerbaijan is not only the initiator of the Southern Gas Corridor and Trans Anadolu (TANAP) project, but is also its leading force. We also invest our own capital in this field,” Ilham Aliyev said.
Caspian Barrel would like to remind that Azerbaijan exports its gas to Georgia and Turkey. Since the end of 2020 Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz Phase2 project will be exported to the European countries, such as Greece, Bulgaria and Italy. In the future it is planned to export Azerbaijani gas to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia via the Ionic-Adriatic pipeline.
