SOCAR plans to open a trade representation in the oil capital of Canada – Calgary, which will be the first one in North America, to expand its operations at the international markets.
SOCAR Trading, SOCARs trade subdivision, has started hiring employees for the office in Calgary, Alberta province, two sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. One of the sources said it is unclear when the new representation will start to work.
The representatives of the company were unavailable for comments.
SOCAR Trading, the world biggest supplier of Azeri Light oil, continues expanding its presence at the foreign markets. This year SOCAR Trading has hired the entire staff of London-based Phibro company – several traders and the entire staff. Earlier Phibro head company, Occidental Petroleum, has decided to suspend this business, which was headed by the famous oil trader Andy Hall.
Geneva-based SOCAR Trading also has representations in Dubai, Singapore and London.
