While drilling well No 108 on the offshore sleet proof platform on the Yurii Korchagin field in the Caspian Sea, LUKoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft has held a new world record of number of meters drilled with a big displacement of bottom – 4908 meters per one run of drill bit in the section 91/2 inches without trips.
The record held by LUKoil on the well No 108 has been confirmed by the world database of Schlumberger/Smith Bits.
With vertical depth of the well of only 1565 meters, total length of the bore hole was 8005 meters, which is the biggest figure in the Korchagin field development project.
The previous world record in this category was been also held by LUKoil in the Caspian Sea while drilling the well No 103, which for the first time in the history of development of the Yurii Korchagin field has uncovered two oil bearing layers. The internal corporate record of drilling speed has been also held on the well No 103.
