Company becomes general contractor of the first 208 km section of the pipe without tender
Stroitransgas closed-type joint stock company (JSC) controlled by Gennadii Timchenko has received the first general contract for construction of the Siberian Force gas pipeline from Russia to China, Anatolii Titov, General Director of Gasprom Transgas Tomsk (customer of the project), said on Friday at the annual session of the Russian Gas Society. He meant construction of the first 208-km-long section Chayanda-Lensk. This year the company will lay the first 70-80 km of the pipe, Titov said.
The contract has a “framework” cost, it will become obvious as the pipeline section will be building, said top manager. He did not specify when the construction has started. Representative of Stroitransgas did not respond to the phone calls. Gasprom’s representative did not respond to the inquiry.
Titov said JSC was selected as the contractor of construction of the first section of the Siberian Force to ensure its timely construction.
The official ceremony of the pipeline construction commencement took place in September 2014 in presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The length of the Siberian Force from Chayanda to China will be 2136 km. Total cost of the pipeline is 770 billion rubles, which is 360 million rubles per 1 km. Therefore, JSC could receive almost 75 billion rubles for construction of the section Chayanda-Lensk.
Cost of Gasprom’s gas pipelines continued getting more expensive, said Mikhail Korchemkin, Director of East European Gas Analysis. Gasprom’s last big project in Russia – South Corridor – cost 295 million rubles per 1 km, he estimated.
