“At present Kazakhstan has 42 mini oil refineries, half of which stands idle. They refine about 1 million tons of oil, but the quality is very low,” Uzakbay Karabalin. Senior Vice Minister of Energy, said at the session of the parliament devoted to discussion of supply of the country with oil products.
He added that vaccum gasoils and other products of oil refining are exported at present. According to the current legislation, these oil products canot be used at big enterprises of Kazakhstan.
Karabalin added that the legsilation must be changed.
* During 2013 Kazakhstan extracted 81.8 million tons of oil and condensate and refined 15.3 million tons. The country has three big oil refineries. Kazakhstan is unable to supply itself with fuel: it imports both gasoline and diesel fuel. Kaakhstan spends about $2.5 billion a year for thus purpose.
