Until temporary agreement on gas deliveries and conditions of payment is signed, the issue remains open, said Ukrainian Premier. He also said that Ukraine has $3.1 billion available to pay for gas.
Yazenyuk also added that he supports fixing the temporary seasonal price – $325 per 1000 cub.m.of gas in summer and $385 per 1000 cub.m. in winter. “Price goes down in summer and goes up in winter. In any case, this is better than $500, which was stipulated by the contract,” he said.
On October 17, 2014 Russian and Ukrainian Presidents had talks in Milano, after which Russian President Vladimir Putin said that conditions of gas deliveries “during at least winter period” have been agreed. On the same day Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that according to the agreement, in winter gas price will be $385 per 1000 cub.m.
Ukrainian President Petro Prorshenko said: “We have failed to achieve any pratical results in the gas issue. But we hope that by the meeting of the delegations of Ukraine, Russia and European Commission in Brussels on October 21, 2014 we will be able to find solution to this issue.”
