Kazakhstan has concluded a contract to deliver 3,000 tons of AI-92 petrol from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, said a source from the Kazakhstan Energy Ministry.
The contract has been concluded between Lanturno Management S.A. company, which will deliver Azerbaijani fuel through Russia, in October 2014.
Kazakhstan has already paid a full amount of contracted oil products, but petrol has not been shipped till October 21, 2014.
Actual delivery of petrol is expected after adoption of the resolution on stabilization of the oil products market by the Kazakhstan government. It has been earlier reported that Kazakhstan has started talks on AI-92 petrol deliveries with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, China and other countries.
Kazakhstan has three big oil refineries – Pavlodar on the south, Atyrau on the west and Shimkent on the south. Total volume of refining by these oil refineries is about 13 million tons. The volume of oil products manufactured in the country is not enough satisfy demand of the local market.
According to the forecasts, in 2014 petrol production in Kazakhstan will total 2,885,000 tons, while the consumption is expected to be 4,168,000 tons.
Upgrade of all the oil refineries in the country is planned to be completed in 2016. Kazakhstan Energy Ministry said that after the upgrade demand of Kazakhstan in light oil products will be fully satisfied.
Lanturno is a private company operating since 2003. The head office of the company is based in Geneva. It specializes in oil and oil products trade.
