Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee has finally released the data of alternative power of the country. These data are reflected in the Azerbaijan energy balance for 2013.
During 2013 800,000 kwh of power was generated by wind stations of Azerbaijan. The similar volume of power was generated by the solar panels. In addition, 134.1 million kwh of power was generated from burning municipal wastes.
During 2013 the country has generated 23.3 billion kwh of power.
Development of alternative power started in Azerbaijan in 2009, when the State Agency for Alternative Power under the Ministry of Energy was created. Since that time the structure and the system of management of the State Agency has changed and constantly developed. Since February 1, 2013 the State Agency for Alternative Power and Renewable Sources has been functioning.
