Till 2030 Rosneft and ExxonMobil will invest $400 billion into Arctic, Igor Sechin, Rosneft President, said in his interview to German Der Spiegel magazine.
“Our company values cooperation with ExxonMobile, which started 20 years ago in Sakhalin. In the Kara Sea we have been working on such high latitudes, where nobody drills now. We are planning to open a new oil province there, resources of which are comparable with the explored resources of Saudi Arabia. Till 2030 we are going to invest $400 billion into the Arctic,” Sechin said.
On August 9, 2014 Rosneft jointly with the US ExxonMobil company started drilling on the Berkut platform in the Kara Sea.
The first results of the exploration drilling will be announced in two months.
