Given the great history of the oil and gas sector development in Azerbaijan, the formation of Odlar corporate database by SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) may take up to 20-25 years, National Databank NDR-14 told reporters Sept.29 at the international conference held in Baku with the support of SOCAR.
The formation of a corporate database began in 2008 and the results of six years of work suggest that the collection of all data can be completed in a shortest possible time, said vice president of SOCAR on the staff, and information technology regime Khaliq Mammadov.
The duration of data collection is due to the large number of fields and wells in the country, and consequently there is a large amount of information that was recorded by various methods and stored in different structures.
“We have more than 44, 800 wells and all the data regarding the work of well is recorded. Additionally, data collection on exploration and other technical parameters is implemented within the framework of drilling,” said Mammadov.
The access to the database is restricted to the public, but specialists in this field have access to it, he said. In particular, 130 SOCAR specialists currently have access to the database, and this list will be extended.
