United States are ready to introduce new sanctions against Russia, if it concludes a deal with Iran “oil in exchange for goods,” Reuterd quoted David Cohen, US Deputy Secrtetary of Finance for Prevention of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
The US official admitted that at present US does not have information available if the deal has been conclided. Meanwhile, Washington warned Moscow that if the deal is closed, all its participants will fall under the sanctions.
The memorandum on mutual understansing signed in Moscow on August 5, 2014 by the co-chairmen of the permanent Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on the trade-economic cooperatioon – Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangane – has caused dissatiscation of the White House.
The agreement envisages delivery of Russian consumer goods and equipment to Iran in exchange for the Iranian oil. Many experts said that signing of the memorandum has become a response to the sanctions introduced by the US and EU and some other countries against Russia.
