The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council has extended the term of issue and circulation of petrol and diesel fuel Euro-2 to Kazakhstan’s oil refineries till January 2016, reported Reuters. The changes were introduced into the Customs Union technical regulations.
The decision of Commission of June 23, 2014 was published a week later and will enter into force within ten days since its publishing, which is July 10, said chairman of the EEC Council.
The amendments will allow Kazakhstan’s oil refineries, which have not been upgraded yet, to preserve the current volume of oil products production. The previous technical regulations banned sale of fuel below Euro-3 standard on the territory of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia., which has become an unrealizable conditions for Kazakhstan’s oil refineries.
At present Kazakhstan has three oil refineries. According to the analytical centre of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Oil and Gas in 2013 the volume of oil refining totaled 14.3 million tons, petrol production – 2.7 million tons and diesel fuel – 4.2 million tons. In 2014 it is planned to refine 14.4 million tons of oil in Kazakhstan.
