From January to March 2014 1,605,108 tons of Central Asian oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
A source from SOCAR told Caspian Barrel that of this volume 733,082 tons was pumped to the BTC from Turkmenistan and 872,026 tons from Kazakhstan.
Turkmenistan oil is produced on the offshore fields by the foreign companies as a part of the production sharing contracts (PSA). Oil from the onshore Tengiz field is delivered from Kazakhstan, where operator Chevron company is also the shareholder of the BTC Co pipeline company.
