The European Commission has postponed making the decision on providing Gasprom access to the OPAL gas pipeline, EC press officer Sabine Berger, told journalists.
“The reason of postponement is the necessity to clarify some additional technical issues,” she said. The previous deadline was March 10, 2014.
OPAL gas pipeline with the carrying capacity of 36 billion cub.m. lies through Germany connecting the new trans-Baltic North Stream gas pipeline with the existing gas transportation networks. Russia and Germany wanted to achieve exception from the EU Third Energy Package for the gas pipeline, which would allow Gasprom filling more than half of the pipe, reported PRIME.
