Tehran and Ankara plan to extend the 30-year agreement on the supply of Iranian gas to Turkiye, which expires in 2026, Bloomberg reported with reference to statements by Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oudji, who held talks with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in Tehran on April 4.
“During our meeting, it was decided to hold talks on extending the existing gas agreement with Turkiye. The current contract expires in 2026. As part of the new agreement, 30 mcm of natural gas are expected to be delivered to Turkiye every day,” Oudji said.
Negotiations between the Iranian National Gas Company and the Turkish state-owned BOTAS gas transportation company were also held in Tehran.
“We also discussed issues of expanding energy cooperation between Turkiye and Iran and the possibility of Turkish companies to invest in Iran’s energy sector,” Oudji stressed.
The minister said that Iran is ready to expand cooperation with Turkiye in the development of oil and natural gas fields, oil facilities and the petrochemical sector.
