QUALIFICATION and JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualification
- Minimum 20 years overall experience refinery laboratories, oil and gas laboratories, environmental laboratories, research laboratories
- Experience in Chemical Laboratory Quality Management System administration – ISO 17025 Accreditation
- Knowledge in international and state standard test procedures such as ASTM, IP, UOP, APHA, ISO, GOST
- Knowledge and skills in testing of petroleum and/or, water and/or, microbiology testing equipment, related to analysis of Crude oil, naphtha, diesel, lube oils, gaseous samples, water-based samples are essential; based on their assigned sections.
- Good working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Experience in operating, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Demonstrates analytical skills
Job Description
Acts as the first line technical support all lab sections and leads technicians for daily activities in alignment with section leads
Monitors all analyses conducted for products in their sections (which can be toxic) for all types of products delivered into the related sections. Ensures the accuracy and reliability of all samples from sample collection till reporting to customers
State conformity and interpretations provision on Test Reports/CoQ as per procedural requirements
Planning and execution Development, modification, verification and validation of methods and calculation of measurement uncertainty activities as per procedural requirements
Execute and periodically monitors the planned quality control activities as per procedural requirements
Checks compliance of Calibration certificates of equipment and technical approves for further usage of equipment
Continuously resources, adjust workloads, provides on the job training for the particular section staff as required to facilitate the completion of assigned tasks in a safe work environment consistent with test requirements and personnel capabilities
Responsible for shift handover process and good communication if any of the section personnel goes on vacation or be in leave for any reasons
Job Holder is custodian for various instruments in the laboratory and they are for responsible for Instrument is fit-for-purpose; other users are trained, good log-book management, all maintenance records are available and managed, all spare-parts and consumables are timely ordered and in stock.
Executes the custodian responsibilities for various instruments with primary maintenance activities and will perform full investigation of broken of non-function equipment before escalating the issues to responsible lab supervisors
Monitors and verifies condition of assigned instruments, performs necessary calibration and performance verification of analytical methods to ensure reliability of laboratory analysis, as specified on Work Instructions, Procedures, or maintenance plan.
Reports and escalates Out of Specification results directly with supervisor and sample-requestors and maintains root cause analysis
Maintains effective day-to-day communication with Laboratory management for all routine/non-routine samples
Carry out shift work when required, acts as shift leader.
Co-Coordinates continuously sampling, sample-logistics and testing activities. Prioritizes these activities aligned with the Sampling-Analysis schedules and operations in a dynamic and effectively and timely manner through Analytical plans, Internal/ External Analysis requests from customer as per approved procedural requirements

Assists with establishing and implementing the laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with Laboratory Management System and the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025
Executes the work within the Laboratory Quality Assurance protocols/instructions
Executes the work for all related HSE safety regulations for High Pressure and sour activities contributes to safety culture and keeps the work-processes and practices up to date; shall be aware of Chemical Hazard of materials being handled inside the Laboratory
Develop procedures, work instructions, programs, or any specific activities report or dedicated instruction that are related to own sections, and coordinated correct implementations within own sections
Prepares and updates laboratory documentation to comply with Azerbaijani Legislation and international quality system requirements.
