Job Title: I&C Commissioning Superintendent
Contract Duration: 5 months
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop specifications for the steam turbine control system.
- Design and specify instrumentation and control systems that ensure safe and efficient turbine operation.
- Select appropriate sensors, actuators, and control devices for the turbine control system.
- Integrate the control system with other subsystems, such as the turbine protection system, governor control system, and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure seamless communication and coordination between different control components.
- Implement safety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems to protect the turbine and associated equipment.
- Develop and implement safety protocols to handle abnormal operating conditions and emergencies.
- Specify and install instrumentation devices such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, and level indicators.
- Calibrate instruments regularly to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Develop and implement control algorithms to regulate steam flow, speed, and other critical parameters.
- Optimize control strategies for efficiency, stability, and response time.
- Design and implement user-friendly interfaces for operators to monitor and control the steam turbine.
- Provide real-time feedback on turbine performance, alarms, and status
- Conduct functional testing of the control system to ensure it meets design specifications.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines during commissioning to validate the entire turbine system.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including system diagrams, control narratives, and operating manuals.
- Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use and maintenance of the control system.
- Ensure that the control system complies with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Society of Automation (ISA)
Experience:
- Relevant experience in steam turbine/power plant projects.
- At least 5 years of experience in a specific discipline.
Skills and Abilities:
- Fluent in English
- Technical skills in areas such as control systems, PLC programming, SCADA systems, instrumentation calibration, and process optimization.
- Loop testing.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Subcontractor and vendor management experience.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Pro-active, ability to prioritize work and achieve desired result.
- Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
