In nine months, Uzbekistan imported more gas in value terms than it exported (487.9 million versus 411.7 million dollars). In September, $286.1 million worth of gas was delivered, by 40% more than in the previous eight months.
In January-September 2023, Uzbekistan imported gas for 487.9 million dollars, by 83.4% more than in the same period last year, the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan.
Exports decreased by 48.2% to $411.7 million. This happened against the background of the suspension of supplies to China at the beginning of the year when the energy crisis broke out in Uzbekistan.
Thus, imports exceeded exports by 76.2 million dollars (in physical volume, the data may vary, but such statistics have not been officially disclosed).
It should be noted that a sharp increase in gas imports by Uzbekistan occurs against the background of a drop in its production in the country.
In January-September, Uzbekistan produced 35.16 bcm, by 3.69 bcm (-9.5%) less than in the same period last year.
