The largest gas field in Turkmenistan, “Galkynysh” , has 45 wells with an average flow rate of about two mcm of gas per day, the Russian-language government newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” reported on Tuesday.
“At the moment, there are 45 wells in the operational fund of the field, the area of which is more than 4 thousand square kilometers, the flow rate of each of them is on average two mcm of gas per day,” the newspaper writes.
The publication emphasizes that today this field is the guarantor of reliable supply of raw materials for international projects, including the interstate Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, as well as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline under construction.
The newspaper notes that as part of the first stage of industrial development of the “Galkynysh” field, conducted by the State Concern “Turkmengaz” together with foreign partners, 22 wells were built here, two gas processing complexes were built, with a total capacity of 30 bcm of commercial gas per year.
“According to Irina Luryeva, head of the laboratory of the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern “Turkmengaz,” in the future, with the implementation of seven stages of the development of the giant “Galkynysh” field, the annual production of natural gas throughout the field will reach about 200 bcm, “Neutral Turkmenistan” writes.
