In the first quarter of 2022, 6 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Shah Deniz field, which is 17.6% higher than in January-March 2021.
According to Caspian Barrel, citing a report by bp-Azerbaijan (the operator of the Shah Deniz development project), the current production capacity of the field is approximately 72 mcm per day, or over 26 bcmeters per year.
During the reporting period, about 9 million barrels of condensate (more than 1 million tons) were also produced from the Shah Deniz field, which is 15.4% higher than in the first quarter of 2021.
The costs of the Shah Deniz project in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to $847 million (a decrease of 43.76%). Operating expenses for the project exceeded $759 billion, capital expenditures amounted to $88 million.
It should be noted that in 2021, 23 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Shah Deniz field, which is 27.1% higher than in 2020.
The contract for the exploration and development of the Shah Deniz field was signed in Baku on June 4, 1996. In June 1999, the largest gas field in the Caspian was discovered with reserves of 1 trillion cubic meters.
The current shareholders of the project are: BP (operator, 29.99%), SOCAR and its subsidiaries (21.02%), LUKOIL (19.99%), TPAO (19%) and NICO (10%) .
Gas production from the Shah Deniz field began in December 2006. Currently, gas production from the field is carried out from the Alpha platform and from the Bravo platform (August 2018).
