Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan entered into a trilateral agreement on gas swaps in Ashgabat on Sunday.
According to the IRIB TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation, the signing took place in the presence of the Iranian and Azerbaijani Presidents Ebrahim Raisi and Ilham Aliyev.
According to the agreement, from one and a half to two billion cubic meters of gas will be sent from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan through Iran annually.
On November 21, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oudji said that during negotiations with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, an agreement was reached on swap gas supplies to Azerbaijan through Iran from neighboring countries, including Turkmenistan. He also noted that Tehran and Baku in the coming weeks may sign an agreement on joint development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea.
